Wednesday belongs to the fire signs. Aries, Leo, Sagittarius: this reading is yours, and the subject is creativity and joy.
You have spent the week watching other elements sit still. Friday put Justice in front of the earth signs. Saturday’s Harvest Moon drew Judgement, and the people in that picture got to their feet. Monday sat the air signs with The High Priestess and a voice they were to keep to themselves. None of that is fire weather. The sky is still in the Two of Swords decan, Peace Restored, Moon in Libra: ten days the equinox framed as a pause that already had an ending. That ending arrives on Friday. Today is the third-to-last morning of it. Your making likes heat and a room that lights when you walk in. Those things are good. A stretch of quiet swords in an air season can leave you feeling left behind, and the gift starts asking a sour question about work done with no one in the seats.
The Card: The Star
The card drawn for you is The Star, Major Arcana XVII, the seventeenth of the twenty-two larger cards of the deck. In the Golden Dawn system it belongs to the Hebrew letter Tzaddi, to Aquarius, and to the element of Air. An air card for fire signs while the air season is still running. You had this subject back in August, when The Sun arrived one day into a wands decan on your home ground. That was noon: warmth, a banner, a child on a horse. This draw is two in the morning. Same making. A later hour.
Maybe yours shows a woman kneeling at the edge of a pool, one foot on water and one on land, pouring from two jugs, a large star above her ringed by seven smaller ones, a bird in a tree, the sky dark. Maybe it is our default Golden Dawn image: the same woman pouring into pool and land, the same large star and seven small ones, a bird in a tree. Across every version the picture holds: a figure at night, two vessels, one stream into water and one onto earth, one bright star and a scatter of lesser ones.
She kneels. There is no stage in the frame. She is unclothed, so there is no costume to manage. A bird watches from the tree. That is enough company for the hour. One jug feeds the pool, which is the part of you that no audience ever sees: rest, the page you write and close, the tune you keep for the kitchen. The other jug feeds the land, which is the work that goes out. You are quick to empty the second jug and slow to notice the first running low. Joy this week lives in the hour that earns no clap.
The seven small stars around the large one are the seven classical planets. They are also a kindness. The work that lasts is often the modest idea you keep waving away because it would never fill a hall. The Star is one of the most healing cards in the deck. It follows the Tower in the order of the cards. Making starts again once something has already fallen. Some of you had a hard summer: an eclipse, a Five of Swords, a field that felt emptied. This is the night that follows. Fill the vessels while the air is still, so there is something left to burn when the weather changes. Saturday brings a harder card. These hours are for the filling.
A line for each of you. Aries, Saturday you spoke the thing once; this week make the thing once, and leave the announcement in the drawer. Leo, The Sun was yours in August; do one thing this week you will mention to no one. Sagittarius, you have six vessels on the go; choose the one you would still tend at two in the morning with no reason attached, and pour there.
One Practical Thing for the Week
Give the week one evening with two pours. Choose a small creative task, sized like one of those lesser stars, and spend an hour on it with the camera off and nobody told. Then turn to the other vessel: one thing that belongs only to you. Rest counts. When you put both down, notice which of the two felt like joy. Keep the whole thing that small on purpose.
There’s more on the card in our Star card meaning. Friday 2 October is the water signs’ reading, on career and purpose, and the last day of this decan. Saturday 3 October the wheel turns into the Libra II decan and the Three of Swords takes the sky until 12 October. Fire signs: pour both jugs.
