The full moon peaks late this afternoon, at 5:49pm UK time, and rises already full this evening. The sun is in Libra, so this moon stands opposite in Aries. This is the Harvest Moon, the full moon nearest the autumn equinox we crossed on Wednesday, the one that used to rise early enough for people to finish bringing the crop in by its light.

Two earlier moons sit behind tonight. The 28 August full moon in Pisces arrived as a partial lunar eclipse, drew The Moon, and asked you to put something down. No eclipse tonight. The new moon in Virgo on 11 September drew The Hermit and asked for one small intention, sized to live through a rough Tuesday. Tonight you see what that planting actually grew. We are three days into the Two of Swords decan of Libra. Wednesday called those days a pause with a clock on it, a blindfolded weighing before any cut. A full moon is the night the cloth comes off, whether you were ready to look or not.

The Reading: Culmination and Release

Every full moon brings the planted month into view. What you set going comes up. What you kept half hidden shows its real shape. Look at the field and take in whatever is there. Go back to what you asked for on the eleventh, or to the fortnight you actually lived if you never wrote a line down. See the true size of it. Bring that in. A small yield is still a yield. An empty patch tells you something useful.

Libra’s sun wants the fair deal and the other person’s ease. Aries’ moon wants the first move and the sentence you have been biting back. That is the weather of this evening. The truce from the start of the week was Libra keeping the peace. The moon tonight is the part of you that is tired of holding both blades still. Release can be simple. Let yourself want something, and say it out loud.

The Card: Judgement

The card drawn for tonight is Judgement, the twentieth of the Major Arcana, the twenty-two larger cards of the deck. In the Golden Dawn system it belongs to the Hebrew letter Shin and to Fire, which fits an Aries moon. The words that travel with it are awakening, the call, a life review without shame, and being cleared of guilt carried too long. Something long buried is ready to come up.

Maybe yours shows an angel in the clouds with a trumpet and a flag, and below that figures rising from open coffins on water, arms raised, icy mountains behind. Maybe it is our default Golden Dawn picture: an angel blowing a trumpet, figures rising from graves in water, mountains behind them. What every version shares is a trumpet sounding from above, and people standing up out of where they were lying, on water, with mountains they will never need to cross.

The trumpet is a call. The figures stand. Release tonight is standing up out of the box you have been lying in: a story about yourself that is finished, a guilt that is out of date, a part you kept playing after the scene ended. The water they rise from is the feeling. The mountains are the sentence that starts “but I would have to” and that sentence can wait.

Yesterday’s reading drew Justice. The weighing is done. Tonight the verdict is in, and the verdict is that you can get up now. Everyone in the picture stands at once. Nobody rises alone, and nobody is asked to check that the others are worthy first.

A line for each sign. Aries, this moon sits with you, so the first move is yours. Name the want you have been holding in to spare the room. Speak it once, plain, then leave it there. One sentence is a call. A speech is a solo. Libra, the sun is in your sign and the moon stands across from you. You already spend the season making things fair for other people. Turn that same standard on yourself. Wanting something is allowed. Cancer, you keep the house and the people in it. Some old bruise is still on the watch list only because you keep guarding it. Lay it in the water tonight and let the sound take it. Capricorn, the climb is still yours. The range painted behind the figures can stay where it is. Set down the extra weight you have been hauling up with you. The climb can go on without it.

One Practical Thing for Tonight

Ten minutes and a scrap of paper will do. Find the intention you wrote on the eleventh, the small one built to last. If you never wrote one, jot down what you actually did with these two weeks. Then harvest in two lines. First, name one thing that came up, however small: a talk you finally had, or four days of a habit kept. Second, name one thing you can stand up out of: a verdict you passed on yourself years ago, or a role you already finished. Say that second line out loud, once, then stop. The standing up is the ritual. Nothing needs burning tonight.

There’s more on the drawn card in our Judgement card meaning, and the whole system lives on the tarot calendar. Monday 28 September is the air signs’ reading, on growth and shadow work. Wednesday 30 September is the fire signs’ reading, on creativity and joy. Tonight: harvest what grew, stand up once, then rest.
