The High Priestess: A Shadow Work Reading for the Air Signs (28 September 2026)

A tarot reading for Gemini, Libra and Aquarius on growth and shadow work: The High Priestess, the Moon's own card, drawn in the Two of Swords decan of Libra.

The High Priestess tarot card: a robed woman seated between a dark pillar and a light one, a scroll in her lap, a veil behind her and a moon at her feet, the tarot card of what you know without knowing why

Monday belongs to the air signs. Gemini, Libra, Aquarius: this reading is yours, and the subject is growth and shadow work.

We’re five days into the Two of Swords decan, and for once the sky is sitting in your own house. Libra is an air sign, this is Libra’s season, and the ten days that opened on the equinox belong to you. Wednesday named that stretch Peace Restored: a seated figure with the eyes covered, two blades held still, a quiet that already has an ending written into it. Saturday’s Harvest Moon drew Judgement, and the people in that picture got to their feet. The last time we did shadow work, the Six of Swords gave you a quiet boat. This week the work is quieter still. Your gift for talk is where the shadow sits. You can walk a feeling through fourteen versions and never arrive at the first one. Growth here is catching the line you keep polishing so the first wording never has to stand.

The Card: The High Priestess

The card drawn for you is The High Priestess, Major Arcana II, the second of the twenty-two larger cards of the deck. In the Golden Dawn system she belongs to the Hebrew letter Gimel and to the Moon, which makes her the trump of this very decan’s ruler. The Moon is already running the ten days. Now her own card has sat down in them. The line that travels with her on our page is a short one: what you know without knowing why.

Maybe yours shows a woman in blue and white robes seated between two pillars, one dark and one light, a crown with horns and a full moon, a cross on her chest, a scroll in her lap, a veil behind her, a crescent moon at her feet, water somewhere beyond. Maybe it is our default Golden Dawn picture: the same seated woman between a black pillar and a white one, wearing a crown with horns and a cross, holding a scroll labelled TORA, a moon at her feet, water in the background. What every version shares is a seated figure between two pillars, a veil you cannot see past, a scroll she is not reading aloud, and a moon.

On Friday, Justice took that chair with the sword up and both eyes open. The Priestess has the chair now, the veil drawn, and nothing to add out loud. One seat. Two very different jobs.

The Two of Swords figure wears a cloth over the eyes. The Priestess keeps her gaze on the veil and stays silent. You would rather talk a choice all the way around the table before you admit what you already knew. She asks you to sit with the quiet voice that has been there since the first draft. She arrives once the extra research has stopped helping. Hidden cycles and dreams are her ground, and so is the odd certainty that comes with no proof. The scroll is only half shown. The knowing turns up a page at a time, and air would rather wait for the binder. Reversed, she is the warning that goes with the gift. Overlook that quiet voice and the week fills with other people’s sentences instead.

A line for each of you. Gemini, the account you give now has been through so many edits it no longer matches the first line you wrote when the thing actually happened, and that first line was the true one. Libra, the Moon and the Priestess both sit with you this week, so stop asking the room; you knew your answer before you put the question to the second person. Aquarius, you turned the feeling into a theory and put the theory away; open that drawer and stay with what is in it before you name it again.

One Practical Thing for the Week

Give yourself a Priestess hour before Friday. One evening is enough. Put the phone face down and leave the notes app closed. Sit with the one question you keep taking to other people. Write the plain answer in a single sentence, first wording, no edits, and don’t send it. Fold the paper and keep it out of sight until Friday. Notice whether the week gets quieter.

There’s more on the card in our High Priestess card meaning. Wednesday 30 September is the fire signs’ reading, on creativity and joy. Friday 2 October is the water signs’ reading, on career and purpose. Air signs: hear it once, and keep it quiet.
