Monday belongs to the fire signs. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, this week’s entry is about money and security.

We are a week into the Four of Swords decan of Libra, the stretch that runs from 13 to 22 October. The Golden Dawn called this last Libra decan Rest from Strife. Jupiter rules it in Libra, so the picture is the rest that follows the cut. The decan ends on Thursday. On Friday 23 October Scorpio opens and the suit turns to cups with the Five of Cups. The earlier note on this sky asked everyone to put the real problems on the wall until the 22nd and book the rest like an appointment. Fire signs tend to treat money the way they treat a match: it arrives in a burst, it blazes, it warms the room for an evening, and then it is gone. Back in August, when Virgo season opened, you drew the Four of Pentacles for money, the card people call the miser. The line then was hold four, grow one. Most of you managed the holding for a fortnight and then found it dull. This is the second money reading of the year for the fire signs, and the card now is what comes after the holding.

The Card: Queen of Pentacles

The Queen of Pentacles is an earth card drawn for fire signs on purpose. In the Golden Dawn system she is Venus in Earth, the planet of pleasure and growing things placed in the element of ground and money. Abundance is something she tends, not merely holds. Maybe your deck shows a queen on a throne carved with fruit and goats, sitting in a garden thick with roses and greenery, a large coin resting on her lap and her gaze fixed on it, a hare leaping at the bottom corner. Maybe it shows a dark-haired woman seated on a throne over dark sandy earth, one side of her face in light and the other in shadow, a winged goat’s head as her crest and a goat beside her, a sceptre topped with a cube in one hand and a golden orb in the other. Across every version the shared picture is a seated woman holding something of value in her lap, with living, growing things around her.

She looks at the coin the way you look at something you are keeping alive. The garden is thick with roses. The hare at the corner stands for the ground’s own habit of producing. Her care is practical and her generosity shows up through doing and providing. She makes plenty for others as easily as breathing. On 14 October the earth signs drew the Prince of Pentacles for career and stayed in the saddle at the bull’s pace. Your card this week sits further along the same ground: the holding from August is finished, and the next step is tending.

Security here is the money that keeps going while you rest. The Queen is not working the garden in the picture. She is sitting in it. For fire signs that means the standing payment, the plan, the pot you do not touch, the arrangements that grow without a fresh burst of effort. A week of rest is the week to notice what is already growing without you. Venus in Earth puts pleasure and ground together, so she enjoys the coin. Fire signs usually spend in order to enjoy and then feel guilty about saving. The card lets saving be something you can like when it is a garden you can watch. Fire generosity is the round, the gift, the large gesture in the moment. Hers is the kind that is still there next month, the host who is still hosting in March.

The goat beside her in the Golden Dawn picture is sure-footed on rough ground, eats whatever is there, and climbs anyway. Fire money does better with that animal than with a racehorse. On 9 October you drew The Devil for shadow work and the chains were loose enough to skip one round. The Queen’s garden is what you plant in the space that round left open.

Aries, the money that arrives in a burst and is spent before it has cleared is the pattern. Let one of those bursts land in the garden this time and leave it alone until spring. Leo, the generous round that is really a performance is the pattern. Be the host who is still hosting in March, which means smaller rounds and more of them. Sagittarius, the next trip or course that gets funded from a pot meant for something else is the pattern. Name one pot that is only for growing and let the trip wait a month.

One Practical Thing for the Week

Do a garden check. Find one money thing that already grows on its own, the standing saving, the plan, the pot, and look at it once the way the Queen looks at the coin on her lap: with affection and without guilt. If there is not one, plant one this week, small, automatic, and boring on purpose. Then, for the rest of the decan, make nothing new happen to your money. Let the garden do the week.

There is more on the card in our Queen of Pentacles card meaning. Wednesday 21 October is the water signs’ reading on growth and shadow work, and it is the last day of the decan. Friday 23 October Scorpio season opens and the Five of Cups takes the sky. The coin stays on the lap, the roses keep coming, and the garden does not need another match this week.
