Queen of Wands: A Career Reading for the Water Signs (5 August 2026)

A tarot reading for Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces on career and purpose: the Queen of Wands, drawn inside the Six of Wands decan of Leo.

The Queen of Wands tarot card: a crowned queen sits at ease on a fire-lit throne with a wand in hand and an animal resting at her side, the tarot card of warm confidence and visible leadership

Wednesday belongs to the water signs. Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces: this reading is yours, and the subject is career and purpose.

Last time we met it was love and connection, and the advice was to close the door and get quiet with one person. Career advice for you this fortnight points the other way, because we’re inside the Six of Wands decan, ten days of parades and prizes, and there’s an uncomfortable truth about weeks like these: the wreaths go to the visible. Water signs do some of the most load-bearing work in any team, steadying people, catching problems before they’re problems, holding the mood together, and almost all of it is invisible by design. In a recognition decan, invisible work goes unrecognised. That’s not a moral judgement. It’s just how parades work.

The Card: Queen of Wands

So look at what the deck did: it handed the water signs a fire queen.

However your deck paints her, she’s recognisably the same woman. Maybe she sits easy on a throne above steady flames, a leopard resting under one hand and a heavy wand in the other. Maybe it’s the sunflower and the black cat at her feet. Either way she looks straight out of the card at you, warm and completely unbothered, and that’s the lesson in one image: warmth and visibility are not opposites. She hasn’t traded kindness for presence. She runs a room the way water signs already run one, by feel, by attention, by knowing everyone in it, and she does it from the front, in the light, with her name on it.

That’s the career message this week: keep the empathy, change the posture. The work you do is real, so claim the authorship. Not the spotlight for its own sake, which would exhaust you inside a day, but the plain, factual credit for what you actually built. The Queen of Wands doesn’t shout. She just declines to be anonymous.

A line for each of you. Cancer, you make other people’s work possible and then let them collect for it; this week, put your name on one thing you made and leave it there. Scorpio, you like to steer from the shadows, so try one move in the open: say the idea in the meeting, not in the corridor afterwards. Pisces, purpose isn’t a lightning bolt you’re still waiting for; pick the project you already care about and commit to it out loud, because naming it starts it.

One Practical Thing for the Week

Once this week, present your own work yourself. Not relayed through your manager, not folded into “the team”, not mentioned casually and hoped about. One sentence, said or sent to the person it matters to, starting with “I”: I built this, I ran this, I fixed this. It will feel like bragging. It isn’t. It’s the minimum accurate record, delivered warm, the way the Queen would do it.

There’s more on the card in our Queen of Wands card meaning. Earth signs, you’re up Friday, and the wheel turns big on 12 August: a new moon, a total solar eclipse and a fresh decan on the same day. Water signs: stay warm, get visible.
