The wheel turned this morning. At 7:25 the sun crossed into the Leo II decan, and for the next ten days, from 2 to 11 August, a new card holds the sky: the Six of Wands. If the last ten days were the scrap, these are the days the scrap was for.
The Reading
The Six of Wands arrives on horseback, laurel raised, and the crowd is already cheering. After a fortnight of crossed staves and raised voices, the sky settles the argument: the struggle of the Five resolves into the victory of the Six. Something the collective has been fighting over, in workplaces, in families, in your own head, is ready to be called won. Not perfect, not finished forever, but won enough to say so out loud. This is a decan of recognition, and recognition is the one prize the fight itself could never hand out.
These days ask you to let yourself be seen. Take the compliment without arguing with it. Say what you finished and who helped you finish it, because the rider in this card carries the crowd’s colours as well as their own, and a victory hoarded goes stale faster than any other treasure. The old title for this decan is Jupiter in Leo, generosity riding through pride, and that is the work: be proud, and be generous with the pride. Praise given away comes back doubled through these ten days.
One caution before the parade moves on. The horse in the card is still moving. Applause is fuel, and fuel is for burning, so take the cheer and put it into the next stretch of road rather than building a house on the parade route. Celebrate on the second of August; be moving again well before the eleventh.
One Practical Thing for the Days Ahead
Take the lap, then hand out laurels. Tell one person, plainly and without shrinking it, about something you finished in the last fortnight. Then do the half most people skip: name someone else’s win where other people can hear it. A message to the group, a word to their boss, credit given in the room. The Six of Wands only works when the wreath moves around, and you’ll feel the difference within the week.
Why the Six of Wands, Why Now?
Regular readers know the pattern: this card wasn’t drawn, it’s assigned. The year splits into thirty-six ten-day decans and the Golden Dawn tradition gave each one a minor arcana card. The second decan of Leo belongs to the Six of Wands, the card they simply named “Victory”. After Saturn’s discipline in Leo I comes Jupiter’s reward in Leo II, and the two-card story of struggle then triumph is written straight into the calendar.

The fire signs are back tomorrow, and mark the next turn of the wheel: on 12 August the Seven of Wands takes the sky on the same day as a new moon that is also a total solar eclipse.
