Monday belongs to the earth signs. Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn: this reading is yours, and the subject is love and connection.

We are three days into the Three of Swords decan of Libra, the stretch the Golden Dawn titled Sorrow, with Saturn ruling it from inside Libra. Saturday’s note on the decan treated the cut that follows the weighing. The Two of Swords truce ended, the third sword came down through the rose, and the honest thing was finally said. The ask was to name the comfortable stalemate and get the first saying booked before the new moon. A love reading has to sit inside that weather and still be a love reading. For some of you the hard conversation is already done, or still due before the 10th. For most of you it is the ordinary version: a small true sentence spoken, and now the question of how two people carry on with each other afterwards.

The Card: Temperance

The card drawn for you is Temperance, Major Arcana XIV. In the Golden Dawn system it belongs to the Hebrew letter Samekh, to Sagittarius, and to fire and water held together. Fire is heat and drive. Water is feeling. This is a card from outside your element, chosen for you on purpose. Back in August the Empress reading sat in a very different sky, and the advice then was to keep tending, and let yourselves be tended. Temperance is what that looks like the week after a cut.

Maybe yours shows a winged angel in a white robe, one foot in a pool and one on the bank, pouring water between two cups so the stream runs between them, a triangle inside a square on the robe, irises by the water, a path winding back to mountains with a sunlit crown above them. Maybe it’s an angel in white pouring between two cups, one foot in water and one on land, a rainbow, and a path leading to a mountain with a crown. Across every version the shared picture holds: a figure with one foot in the water and one on the ground, pouring between two cups without spilling, and a path leading somewhere behind.

Earth loves in deeds and in fixed amounts. The lift, the bill paid without being asked, the Sunday call at the same hour every week. That is real love, and it has a shape: measured out, reliable, and often travelling in one direction, because receiving feels awkward and feelings arrive untidy. Temperance is a pouring card in a cutting decan. The Three of Swords made the cut. This is what love does the week after. You tend to keep one cup full and hand it over. The figure holds both cups and pours back and forth, and nothing is lost in the stream. Connection here is an exchange, with a return flow. The Empress asked you to let yourselves be tended. Temperance shows the mechanism. The pour has to run both ways, or one cup empties.

One foot stays on the ground, which is your usual place, and the reason other people lean on you until you start to feel like furniture. The other foot goes in the water. Say the feeling as well as doing the deed. Fire and water are the two things earth finds least comfortable, and the card mixes them. Love this week asks for a little of each, measured in. Measuring is the strength you already have. The crown at the end of the winding path is visible from where you stand. It is reached by flowing. You want the relationship mended by Friday. The card says it mends at the speed of the pour. Slow is fine.

A line for each of you. Taurus, the comfort you give is your cup. Let someone pour into yours without you tidying up around it. Receiving is a skill, and you have had less practice. Virgo, you love by improving. This week stop adjusting the other person’s cup and just hold it. The fix is the feeling, said plainly. Capricorn, you schedule love into the gaps between the real work. One foot in the water means the call happens when it is needed, once this week, even if the diary had other plans.

One Practical Thing for the Week

Pick one evening and keep it small. Sit with someone you love: a partner, a parent, an old friend, whoever it is for you. Before you do anything useful for them, say one feeling out loud, plainly. The dinner can wait. The lift can wait. Then let them do one thing for you, and don’t repay it the same evening. Notice which half was harder. That is the whole exercise. One evening, two cups, and the stream allowed to run back.

There’s more on the card in our Temperance card meaning. Wednesday is the air signs’ reading, on money and security. Saturday brings the new moon in Libra, the intention reading, still inside this decan. Earth signs: pour both ways, and keep one foot in the water.
